Mason Short has been designated to be a US Lacrosse Officials Trainer for the Dakotas to help grow the officials core to support the local organizations and the Dakota Premier Lacrosse League (DPLL). He is also the Chief Official for DPLL this year.

Below are training sessions that Mason will be putting on. The training will be free, and is required annual training for officials. We encourage coaches, parents and players to attend this training if they are interested in learning the current rules for US Lacrosse governed games. The course will give all attendees a basic understanding of the 7 rules of Lacrosse and how we call the game as officials.

If you do not have a US Lacrosse Boys Rule book, they will be available for sale at each of the training sessions at a reduced price of just $5.  If you only have the youth rules, you will also need to have this rule book as well.

DPLL Officials Notes:

  • Items 1, 2,3 & 5 on the attached checklist will need to be completed prior to officiating any DPLL games.
  • We will be attempting to evaluate officials (Item 4 on attached) the first weekend that they are officiating DPLL games, so all officials can become certified as Level 1 or Junior Officials.
  • Junior Officials are those between the ages of 13-18, and can work Youth games – 12U & 14U.  However, those eligible to play 14U, can only officiate 12U. 16U and above players can referee 12U and 14U games.
  • If you are interested in officiating DPLL games, you must register at http://southdakotalacrosse.com/Registration/Default.asp?n=114307&org=SOUTHDAKOTALACROSSE.COM
  • We will have an assigner this year that will be assigning games for officials.  Once you are registered with DPLL, you will be contacted to let us know what weekends you will be available to officiate, and will be scheduled to do so.
  • Additional information will be provided to registered officials.

Again, please take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about the game, and grow the sport of Lacrosse in the Dakotas by taking this important step to becoming an official in the DPLL.
